Half a Bag of Potatoes.

It all started when in the sunny state of Arizona, the zookeeper, made too many potatoes. So picture this, your finally home after a long zookeeper shift. What’s a nice cheap food? Potatoes. In fact, he went to the store that weekend and bought potatoes on sale! So your alone, with a ton of potatoes. Now get this, the man uses ten pounds of potatoes for himself! He bakes them, and now has a ton of baked potatoes, like way too many. He eats as much as he can, one bite at a time, until he’s full, and he’s only had a quarter of them. But animals like never get full, and he has access to a nice place, with tons of animals. He was gonna feed the whole zoo. This is where our story begins. He gets in his car, and during the night, he just has a bag of potatoes. This man, gets out of his car, with a huge bag, and enters the zoo. Now, of course there’s night guards at the zoo, you can’t have anyone stealing anything, and this is where I come in, Im sitting in a chair in a nice warm sunny night in Arizona. I got the night shift, and barely anything happens. I suddenly see a dark, shadowy figure, just walking to an animals enclosure with a big bag full of stuff. He goes to the local animals exhibit, he’s just doing stuff with his bag near the coyotes, and I’m walking to the exhibit. This man just dumps half the bag into the exhibit. At this point, I don’t even know what in the world he’s doing! I walk up to him, grab him and ask. This guy just casually says, “I made extra potatoes so I’m feeding the animals.” I finally recognize him as a zookeeper that I know. This guy has half a bag of potatoes, and he just fed some coyotes for the rest of their life! I have to tell him to stop, because you can’t overfeed animals, with a not very healthy food. So this guy, just walks out of the zoo, with half a bag of potatoes.

Rad Reading – February

This month, I read the book The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau. The book is about a future dystopian society, after a massive war. The United Commonwealth is a country with many colonies and a main city, Tosu City. To qualify for university, the brightest students go to The Testing, when testers go through 4 phases of tests. Some tests are about teamwork, solo skills, education, and finally the forth test is going through a long journey making your way to Tosu City through war ravaged streets, mutant animals, and polluted water. Malencia, known as Cia, makes friends and enemies. Her friends Thomas, Will, and others may betray to survive. I loved the action, it was very much life or death. The book reminded me of the hunger games, with low morales, and a death game at the end. I loved the decisions that Cia has to make with her friends, even though some of them die. My favorite character is Will, as he goes through a lot, and makes a ton of changes. One of his character traits is honest. He says, “You have no idea how good it is to hear someone finally admit they didn’t finish the damn tests.” Nobody else was willing to be honest and say that they didn’t finish the test. The test had way too many questions that everybody else didn’t complete them all. My favorite line is “I blink as the small room fills with a voice that sounds like my own and listen as the voice speaks words I don’t want to believe.” It’s my favorite because it’s a cliffhanger at the end of the story. At the start of the next book in the series, it doesn’t say what it said. This makes the reader make their own story of what it said.

Isolated Island

Life on my abandoned island is lonely. It all started when I looked for free candy. I went into the van, and the doors closed. We were on the road for about 30 minutes, when they opened the doors and knocked me unconscious. Next thing I knew, I was on this island. Was it an experiment? A ransom? I have no idea. When I woke, I went straight to work. First things first, I need water. I had my school backpack and clothes on me and that’s it. The water in my water bottle was all I had. It would keep me hydrated for a day or two, but I’d need to find more. My next step was food. The island was big enough, that there could be animals if there was water. I walked to the highest place on the island, a small hill. Up there I could see a small pond. I realized if I could boil water somehow, I could have unlimited water and fish. I looked up, and saw that it was already the afternoon. Looking into my backpack, I realized most of the stuff would be useless. I could burn the paper in notebooks, but nothing else was very valuable. At night, I started my first fire. I used a really sharp pencil, and scraped it on another pencil. The pencil could stab me really hard, so I figured I could start a fire. It worked! I used a good amount of paper and boiled water, and slept in a bed made with leaves and sand. The next couple days, I used my collection of very sharp pencils to stamp fish, and cut trees. I started burning wood instead of paper, and used the wood to create a little hut that has small walls around my makeshift bed to protect from wind.

Quizzical Quotes

Dumbledore has said a lot of things, but one important quote Dumbledore once said, is that “Happiness can be found even in the darkest times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.” This quote means that you can be happy anywhere anytime, but you just have to find it. Turning on the light, is opening your eyes to the good things, and happy things around you. This quote means to me that even in not so good days, times, or just the moments, we need to find things that are good. We should find the light in the dark, not everything is terrible. We should cherish the happy parts of life, all the moments, and appreciate what happened. Also, this quote should be followed in your everyday light. You shouldn’t be the darkness, you should be the light. I think people should be the light in another persons day. Brighten another’s day, it might be a dark day for them. If someone is having a dark, unhappy day, you should turn the light on for them. You should do a good deed, and bring happiness to others.
